We are seeking an experienced Workplace Relations or Industrial Relations expert to step into a high-impact, temporary casual role based on the Gold Coast with a hybrid working model. This engagement offers a competitive hourly rate (aligned with the AO6 level) of $79.17 – $84.55 per hour + Super and is scheduled to run until 30 June 2026.

Starting ASAP, you will act as a technical escalation point for Human Resource Business Partners and senior leadership. To be successful, you must be comfortable and proficient in full end-to-end case management and have a deep understanding of working within Public Sector Directives and complex industrial frameworks.

Core Responsibilities

  • Independently manage serious matters including diminished performance, disciplinary action, misconduct, and employee grievances.
  • Provide expert guidance on the interpretation of industrial instruments, departmental policies, and relevant legislation.
  • Research and produce high-quality technical documents, including briefing papers, executive reports, and formal correspondence.
  • Facilitate professional relationships with Union stakeholders, governmental agencies, and internal business partners.
  • Plan and implement projects focused on enhancing workplace relations management practices across the service.

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Proven expertise in managing end-to-end industrial cases and navigating diverse workplace relations challenges.
  • High-level ability to interpret and apply Public Sector Directives, complex government frameworks, and governing instruments.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the Queensland Public Sector or a large-scale government environment is highly regarded.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels and resolve multifaceted issues.
  • High-level consultative and negotiation skills to manage expectations and resolve conflict.
  • Proficiency in managing complex cases and implementing structured industrialised solutions.
  • Strong research capabilities to address and interpret multifaceted workplace issues.
  • While not mandatory, a relevant degree in Law or Human Resources is highly regarded.


Mandatory Requirements

  • A declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed as part of the application process.
